Newlands Hall have some great fishing lakes. Ideal for the carp fisherman or the match angler. There are 3 main lakes you can fish. The Large lake has carp up to 30lb and plenty of smaller ones, good doubles too. This lake provides a great days sport. Fish feed on boilies, cheese, luncheon meat and a variety of other baits. The smaller second lake almost guarantees you a catch. Carp in here are up to 10lb and it is not unusual to get a haul of 15 or more fish in a day.
The first match of the league was held at on Sat 9th April at Newlands Hall, nr Chelmsford.
A spell of cold weather leading up to the match was likely to slow things down at this normal Carp haulin' Venue.
Richard Watts came 1st with 60lb of Carp caught mainly on the method feeder with sweetcorn as a hookbait. Second placed Tony Rigg also fished the method feeder for 30lb 8oz. Andy Wicker weighed in 3rd with a mixed bag of 16lb 01oz from swim 1, which included the biggest fish of the day, a Carp of 5lb 2oz.
Many of the swims were very hard going, pegged very close together in shallow water.
Alan Gilbert with his very welcome 3oz roach, which ensured he did not pick up 16 pts with a blank.
